This work presents a tightly held landscape framed by two dominant rock forms on either side of the composition. These structures create a natural corridor, guiding the eye toward a central opening where the space softens and recedes.
The foreground and side planes are constructed through energetic, layered brushwork. Marks overlap and intersect, suggesting rock surfaces, vegetation, and shifting ground without resolving into fixed detail. Areas of higher contrast—deep blues, dark accents, and saturated colour—anchor the composition and create weight along the edges.
In contrast, the central passage and background are lighter and more diffused. Softer greens and pale tones open the space, allowing the eye to rest before moving back into the denser sections. This alternation between compression and release gives the painting its rhythm.
Colour moves freely across the surface, with warm and cool tones interwoven rather than separated. The result is a landscape that feels structured but not fixed—held together by directional movement, layered colour, and shifting depth.
